It works now, thank you so much.
But it doesn’t work at all zoom levels. It happens on both my PC and my mobile phone. Depending on the zoom level, you may or may not see your routes.
Also wondering if being a paying member solves this life-map loading issue. Was thinking of starting to pay anyhow! Thank you so much James for this wonderful service and all your help! Let me know if you think that will help update my life map. I use it every day!

Hi, for the past week or so my lifemap does not populate immediately. After a new activity, of which I submit daily, it did populate the previous activity.
As of today, 2/5/26, the entire lifemap has now vanished. My account is David Drebsky - CityStrides. Please help. Aside from minor processing delays, I have had no issues the past two years.
Can you please rebuild my lifemap?

After waiting more than 48 hours for an activity in another city to appear on my Life Map, I checked back after a further couple of hours, only to find my entire Life Map is now blank.
I appreciate that I’m a free user right now, but apps like this really need to “just work properly” if they are to successfully serve as a shop front to sell me a subscription. It’s not like the subscription price is particularly cheap, either. If I’m going to take the plunge and hand over my hard-earned pennies in return for extra features, I really need to have confidence in the free version first…

I don’t think this is a very fair reply. As someone who has been a subscriber for a good 8+ months this is the first sign of disruption I’ve been aware of (but only minorly affected by), and from James’ comments in this thread he’s clearly working hard to address both the issue as a whole with context as to why its happening (general performance improvements) but also to solve individual reported issues like missing activities.
Have you tried following the guidance he’s suggesting above for a blank LifeMap by uploading a new activity which will bring this back automatically?

I’m at a point where I need to test some fairly drastic changes to allow the infrastructure to keep up with things (it’s that or several
that I don’t have). It’s been fairly stressful, and some of that stress has resulted in some mistakes.

I shipped a bug that accidentally broke LifeMaps for non-Supporters with 1k+ activities. The fix is out now, and I can rebuild them manually (I’ll do that for your account after sending this) & they’ll automatically be fixed up after the next saved activity.
This is odd - this timing does not correlate to my job queue at all. The deepest I’ve seen that get is a day … Though it does ‘humanize’ the timing display to “a day” so maybe it was beyond 24 hours and close enough to 48 to not make a visible difference in your use.
This queue is now down to 2 hours, though.
I purposefully priced CityStrides to be comparable to adding a single race to your year. A race is a single day event, while CityStrides is usable all year round. It’s also a fairly long-term project for most people, so the discounted yearly pricing typically makes the most sense for people.
and it’s not marathon race pricing
but there’s no free beer at the end of CityStrides ![]()
Hi James, I’m one of the 1K+ activities non supporters whose LifeMap has been wiped out after yesterday.
Unfortunately, I can’t plan out any new routes without this feature so I do humbly request that you please rebuild my map as soon as practical.

I’ve added 4 activities over the past two days, but they are regular routes and literally layered hundreds of activities deep, so I haven’t been able to isolate and check their uploads to the Life Map.
The 48 hours thing? Genuine timing, sadly. But you definitely appear to have fixed the issue with your intervention, so thank you for that.
I am having a problem with slow response while zooming and scrolling on the maps. But I strongly suspect this is a problem at my end, because my phone’s memory is close to filling up.
I get what you are saying about the subscription price being equivalent to a race event. And I take your point about it being something that gets used every day, not just the once.
I know that I may have come across as a bit whiny in the short time I’ve been a CityStrides user, but it is clear from your responses to generic and specific issues that you care about your project and its users. This is refreshing, and very much appreciated.
I will try to stay off the forum for a while now, and try to keep an eye on the Life Map upload speeds, etc. I just need to find some “virgin” streets to run down now, so that I’m not fighting against thick layers of activities when looking to see if the maps have updated.
Thank you again for fixing my Map, and taking the time to respond personally. Your close involvement makes it more likely that I will, at some point, take the plunge and set up a subscription to the site. ![]()
