Activities missing on map

It sounds like you’re affected by the ongoing delays in LifeMap builds. The delay is displayed in the Status page.

Additionally, there’s some caching involved that can add another ~5 minutes to activities appearing if you recently viewed the map while the activity wasn’t there.

Thanks James, whatever you did fixed it as my Life Map hadn’t updated since February but everything is there now. Appreciate it!

Hi James

My life map is only displaying a small rectangle of streets around my home city. When I zoom out to see more, the whole of the rest of the world is blank. So it’s not just whole runs missing on the life map, but some runs are cut off - only displaying the parts that fit in this small rectangle. It sounds a bit different to the issues above, but I’m not sure

I am a supporter.

Ps I love city strides, thank you!

Hi, same problem here. My map is blank. I tried sync it for couple days but nothing helped.

This sounds like the cache affecting things.

Where the blank pieces are cached when the data was bad…
And the small sections are individual tiles that weren’t cached & are now displaying good data.

Either way, just in case, I sent in your LifeMap for a rebuild. If you can hold off on browsing any map pages for ~5 minutes, then the next time you browse it should grab good data.
I don’t think you have to stop browsing - at some point in the next cache refresh, it’ll definitely pull new data (so it might take 10mins+ if that happened) … I just figure it’s simplest to let the LifeMap rebuild & the cache expire in one step.

There might be a better visualization out there, but I was able to find this page that does a good job of showing wtf I’m talking about when I mention tiles. You can zoom in on that page, and it’ll visualize the tiles at each zoom level. Supporters’ LifeMap data is spread out across all those tiles at all those zooms, with a 5min cache on each one.

I logged into the phone and the computer and my life map is blank. The list of cities and streets are there but it doesn’t show me any progress. Makes it hard to creat a new route and get new nodes. Anyone know what is going on?

I have a question about the status page and the map issues you’re seeing. I’m a supporter and according to the status page it says life map should update in less than 5 seconds. The run I finished an hour and a half ago isn’t showing up yet. Should it not be on the life map?

It wasn’t changed yet - should it have? I will check again later. Thank you for responding so quickly!

Hi, James. I’ve now joined the group of people with a completely blank LifeMap after yesterday’s activity (my individual activities are visible, but nothing populates onto my LifeMap). Can you please fix/rebuild my map? My map is at https://citystrides.com/users/65775 . Note that I’m a Supporter, so the non-Supporter bug you mentioned shouldn’t have affected me.

Something is up with my tile server … looking into it now.

OK, I think it was an issue of me being dumb and forgetting a step in the recent update to that service. I think it’s working as expected now.

Thanks, @JamesChevalier, I can confirm that my map is now working.

Fixed for me, thank you!

Hi James, my last few activities are showing in my log, but not populating on my map. I tried each of your recommendations on the Read This and MMF User sections, each to no avail. Any ideas? Much appreciation for all that you do j - CityStrides

My entire 4000+ KM of walks has been missing from the life map for several months now. I have no clue how to get it back.

Ah, yeah, that’s from Activities missing on map - #5 by JamesChevalier … I just sent your account in for a rebuild. It should take a few minutes to finish, but it might be another 5-10 minutes for the cache to clear.

Each newly saved activity also queues a LifeMap build, so saving a new run/walk should have done the same thing.

Alsof a blank map….

Confirmed that you’re in the queue - wait times present in the Status page
