Yesterday I created an account by logging in via Garmin Connect on my Phone. That worked!
Today I tried to login via my Computer, clicked “Sign in”, clicked on the Garmin Connect Button and I was surprised that I had to do the whole procedure again with allowing Citystriders to connect with Garmin Connect. It turned out that I created a new account by doing this. Since then I tried to figure out how to log in on my phone with the account I created on my computer?
I really appreciate your help on this.
I’m not aware of it being possible to create two separate CityStrides accounts for a single Garmin account (or any tracking service), so it sounds like you created duplicate Garmin accounts as well. In that case - How do I fix accidentally creating two accounts at the same tracking service? - should help you out.
Just a quick note that could be helpful - the sign in / sign up process is exactly the same every time regardless of whether or not you already have a CityStrides account.
If you’re not logged into CityStrides, there’s no difference between sign up/in until the very last step (where you’re returning to CityStrides after allowing access in the tracking service) where my code sees that this account already exists & logs you in.

I don‘t really get it. If I sign up, it switches to Garmin where I allow CityStrides to connect with it.
It takes me back to the welcome screen of CityStrides where I can enter a name and an email address.
Even if I leave those fields blank a new account gets created and I receive a farewell email from CityStrides that my old account just got deleted.
The new account doesn‘t have my name or email address saved (see my profile link above that now says nameless runner and has random strings as an email address). Is CityStrides not meant to synchronise anything between device logins?
This sounds very odd and should not be happening.
On the Garmin side of the login, when you’re allowing access, are you de-selecting the pre-enabled switch for Activities? (Don’t do this)
I’m a little busy right now, but I’ll look into this as soon as I have a moment … might be back with more questions.

thanks for your support. Yes, I kept the pre-enabled switch on.
I logged out of all garmin apps on my phone and logged in again, now the Sign in redirects directly to the existing user.
Seems like everything works like it should now. So no need to look into it further. Thank you, I’m eager to try out Citystrides now…
