Hard Mode questions and issues

Thanks for the clarification!

I spent a couple minutes trying to set that up months ago, but wasn’t successful. At this point, I can’t recall why.
I’m definitely in favor of this idea. There’s a maproulette channel in their Slack for additional help, as well. I’m pretty sure the street query is still accurate, if you/anyone wants to coordinate putting that Maproulette challenge together.

So I finally took the plunge, my count dropped by about 90 streets, or 1,3%. Not as bad as I feared
Something odd I’ve noticed, is that my completed city count has stayed the same, even though some show incomplete streets in the detailed view (example). @JamesChevalier Is this intentional? I made the switch around 24h ago, everything else seems to have been updated.

Is hard mode still ā€˜all or nothing’? I would love to try one or two cities in hardmode, not all 12 cities at once (>8000 streets)

Sounds like a job is being skipped during the switch to hard mode … Also came up in the Water Station chat … I’ll look into that some evening this week.

So something happened: the cities are no longer listed in the completed tab, the percentage is displayed correctly <100, but the street counts still say x of x completed.

I’m wondering if that was a cache issue, because it looks like your city lists are all correct now. Let me know if I missed something, though.

I tried logging out and back in, the issue is still there: Just_one_more_street is running Ottakring, Wien - CityStrides shows up in the incomplete cities list, with a <100%, but still displays ā€œ227 out of 227 streetsā€

Hi fellow striders,

I am running in hard mode (global setting) and just now realised that new cities I explore are not in hard mode but shown as normal. How is that possible? I would have thought that once the global hard mode is enabled that applies to all cities. What am I missing?

Any pointers much appreciated.

Ugh, I think I need to fix this from the recent Hard Mode per city update. I’ll look into it…

Yeah, at the time of creating new records to track city progress it wasn’t applying your account hard mode setting. I’ll be releasing a fix soon. I’ll update this post when it’s out, along with instructions on how to fix.

Ok, that’s fixed up now. I fixed up your account, so you don’t have to do anything - your cities were switched over to Hard Mode and I queued up jobs to reprocess them.

If someone’s reading along and notices they’re affected by this bug, you can turn off Hard Mode on your account and then turn it back on.

Awesome, James, thanks for the quick fix. It is all looking good now!
