This highway=pedestrian topic has come up a few times:
- Pedestrian area
- Should I fix this park? area=pedestrian?
- Pedestrian vs footway
- Pedestrian areas are included as streets, but can't build into Route Builder
This is one of those “someone will be upset” problems where, whatever I do or do not do, I will upset someone.
Ooh, in this specific case I could exclude amenity=theatre … perhaps expand it out a bit more by ignoring the amenity tag altogether … For the next release I’ll add theatre to the list of excluded amenity tags.
I think it’s been mentioned in one of those threads as well, but there’s also the possibility of ignoring all area=yes Way records - though I don’t know how much that would affect things around the world.
