There are a number of topics that appear similar to this but not this exact issue so I’m starting a new topic. Apologies if it has already been covered and I missed it. I have some red nodes that will not turn purple despite me having run right through them, sometimes several times! A few examples in Coventry UK below:
I think I’ve got a bug in the city update code somewhere that I haven’t figured out yet… Every so often, I get reports of issues like this.
I just sent your activities in for reprocessing, so that should fix things up.
I have the same issue - will this bug just sort itself over time, or is there anything I can do to sort it. So many nodes popping up in completed areas. Just look at how many times I’ve walked these streets, there is no way I’ve missed these nodes ![]()
This could be caused by a few things…
- Lingering data inconsistency from the previous city sync process … this would mean that the data has been like this for some time, though
- Some data that was caught up in a recent bug that would skip processing some activities after city sync & I need to reprocess it City was updated, suddenly some streets are showing as not completed - #4 by JamesChevalier
- The city is currently syncing (this is visible by the spinner icon on the city page, next to the date that’s under the city name), during which time the data can be in flux … this isn’t an issue for smaller cities that sync quickly, but I’m seeing it become problematic for larger cities that take many hours to sync
I’ll need more information from you, based on those notes, to figure out what might need to be done.
Hi James, thanks for coming back to me.
This is definitely a new problem in the last 24 hours. Yesterday I noticed my total streets completed reduced without any reason.
Today I walked in the same area as yesterday and a previously completed street showed a node today. All the nodes in completed areas have only been seen in the last 24hrs.
I have attached a photo from the area that I live which I know has been completed for some time, but now there are nodes.
This is the London Borough of Bromley. I haven’t looked at other areas
I’ve checked the ‘city’ and it looks like there is a sync underway
What else do you need for me to be able to look into this?
Erf, yeah, it’s the fact that the sync is ongoing which is messing with the stats. This is just a waiting game (with me working on speeding up the post-processing that everything is waiting on).
Basically, the data gets created/updated/deleted during the sync … and then the created/updated data gets reprocessed … and until that reprocessing is complete, some things will show as incomplete.
Thank you. I’ll be patient and wait for the update to finish ![]()
Same issue here (in London)!
That’s a totally different issue…
During a city sync, stats can go off & London is syncing now … has been for the past 5 days
… after that wraps up, your stats should be correct.
This is definitely an issue in London right now - My map has been covered in red dots since at least the weekend when I first noticed it and usually there is avpurple line going right through the red dot
Here are a few snapshots of my London map to illustrate the problem. I notice all the effected streets start with the letter R or higher in the alphabet if that is significant or not
Your issue in London is still the city sync mentioned one post above yours:
It’s been processing data for a week now
which has some map display looking off. I’m pretty sure the actual stats aren’t affected, but I’m not certain.
Thanks James - these massive cities must be a real strain on your systems - have you thought about scrapping the nested cities and having say the 33 boroughs of London as 33 seperate cities again? given the new rule on a road with only one node in a city not counting anymore, it would seem the duplicated road issue is less of a thing now.
And yeah - i dont think its impacting my stats too much to be honest - looking at them most of the roads are road names lie Victoria Road or Station Road that duplicate in other parts of London Ive not got to yet- Even ones I would have thought were unique have variations over in East London that i’ve not got to yet
Ah was going to report Upper Sunbury Road - CityStrides but sounds like same issue.
Whilst James is well on the way to finishing Greater London it is a bit frustrating how few unique streets you get doing one of the London boroughs. I recall a thread a while back where one Strider “complained” that trying to complete a rural city was off putting, James changed it and then loads of cities with about 4 streets in each appeared. I’ve ticked off a few but mostly I like the ones around 1000 streets as represents a challenge without having to worry about completing another same name street best part of 30 miles away etc etc
