One street in multiple locations - Compton Close is LEGION

:link: My profile link :

A street in Greater London appears to be multiple streets with that name all in one street on CityStrides - thus having multiple distinct locations.

Spotted on a recent walk that a particular street had a lot more nodes in Greater London than it did in Camden. I’m used to the number not being quite the same in general, and that cross-borough streets are a thing. But 11 vs 57 for one not across a border seemed weird.

Zoomed out and saw it in seven distinct locations across Greater London. All with the correct name - but different streets.

This is the Greater London one: Compton Close - CityStrides

Is this expected behaviour?

Yes, this is how it works. The only identifier for a street is its name. So CS has no way to tell that several way records in OSM might be different streets if they share the same name. This has been discussed many times here.

Ahh, thanks. I’d tried to poke around to see if this was the case - but couldn’t find anything under FAQ, and my searching didn’t get me anything.

Thanks for confirming!
