I rarely take a day off, but with the fires here in LA and the intense AQI, it had to happen. That said, I track my overall streets and rank daily and today I lost 2 streets in overall count yet increased one position in rank.
Regarding streets: Is this because a few streets I have completed have either updated and/or been eliminated from the map?
Regarding rank: Is this because of users leaving the system, or perhaps the streets issue above?
Not pressing but I’m curious. Let me know if anyone knows or has experienced anything similar.
Yeah, city updates can cause fluctuations in counts and stats.
You can enable notifications when a city is changed in your settings page. That might help give a better view on the underlying changes, but it may also get a little noisy.
Also, my overall city maintenance (adding new cities/countries, merging cities, etc) can do the same. For example, I just merged a bunch of Flemish towns today. If you didn’t run in those cities, then your counts wouldn’t be affected … but rank could still be affected, if you’re watching your global rank that closely.
Edit: I’m sorry, I was in zombie-support-mode and just focused on the technical issue … I hope you’re able to stay safe & the worst of this fire for you is some time away from running
Thanks James - we are safe but now only a few blocks from the evacuation line so we may be heading out soon. Also thanks for the response - this was a well needed distraction for me today and all makes sense.
