Nested Neighborhoods Within Chicago

Question about nested neighborhoods: I see there are cities like Boston with neighborhoods nested underneath using the globe icon.

When I check OSM, it looks like these subsets are categorized as “neighborhoods”:

I have posted before about wanting to see this nested breakdown in Chicago as well. In OSM, Chicago’s neighborhoods are listed as admin_level = 10. What needs to be done to see this admin level in CityStrides? Is this a change to be made directly in OSM or on CityStrides side?

This is something I handle within CityStrides. I added it to the list that I keep in Google Sheets.

I can’t guarantee when I’ll get around to this, but it has been a long time since I’ve imported requested cities … so, hopefully soon.

Thanks James! This would definitely make my CS experience better - will be on the lookout for this update.

Just a poke… would be great to be able to track my Chicago progress by neighborhood!

I would also love this! I think I just completed my neighborhood in Chicago but I’m not totally sure.

Would streets completed “in neighborhood” count as completed streets? This would be pretty great. The problem with Chicago is you can run 20 miles down Western or Halsted and not complete a single street whereas you can go out to suburban Vernon Hills and complete 30 streets on a 4 mile jog.

They count as completed within the neighbourhood (assuming you’ve run the length within that neighbourhood) but not within the top level city (and therefore not within your global streets completed tally).

@JamesChevalier seems there is some other interest in this - perhaps we can get this looked at on the Google Sheets again? :slightly_smiling_face:
