Yes, James posted yesterday on Water Station that he is testing an updated city synch method and turned off synching by users while that occurs.

What is Water Station?
There’s an in-site chat here, for things that aren’t worth a full thread (for various definitions of worth).
On desktop, I have it in the left column in a CHANNELS section and also up in the top right corner of the top menu just to the left of my avatar - it’s a chat bubble icon.
On mobile, I think it’s just available in the top menu in that chat bubble icon.

That was almost a month ago. Any news? I still can’t manually sync.
Manual city syncing is still disabled. I plan to re-enable it this week.
I’ve got the daily planet update automated, and that’s been running well for the past few days. This was the main blocker to opening up manual syncing, because without this people would be requesting a sync against stale data.
There’s still a problem with the amount of time post processing takes. I’ve tried a lot of different approaches in the past month, and haven’t come up with anything better. 
Edit: I just enabled manual syncing … I wanted to wait because there’s a backlog from the automatic syncing that’ll block everyone anyway, but 
it’ll cool down & there’s nothing else technically stopping the feature from being used.

Thanks. I still can’t see the sync button, but good to know it’s coming.
I marked some roads as private, but a month later I forgot and went out to them again!
I saw it enabled last night but did not work as you suggested. It seems to have now gone again - just get blank box again.

Ah, I see … the planet update that happens nightly temporarily disables all city syncing, and I hadn’t yet added the re-enabling of requested syncs. I’ll be able to fix that up for tonight’s planet update.
