There are many reasons why you would like to move from one service to another. There are two ways to go about this…
Method A
This method swaps out the data within the existing CityStrides account. This is the most flexible option, if you’re taking some time to move between services or do not plan on deleting your old tracking service account.
- Move all of your data from the old tracking service to the new tracking service; I cannot help you with the specific details of how to accomplish this
- Visit the Activity Trackers section of your Settings page (Settings is also linked in the top right menu in the site)
- Click the Connect button for the new service
- For trackers other than Garmin, a full account sync will automatically run & it will skip existing activities (based on start time) to avoid duplicates (see note below for Garmin accounts)
- At this point you can either click the Pause button for the old tracking service or you can fully delete that old tracking service account if you have successfully moved all that data to the new tracking service
- If you do delete your old tracking service account, that data will be removed from CityStrides … To clean that up, choose “Sync Now” from the top right menu (if you’re a Supporter) or reply in https://community.citystrides.com/t/reply-here-if-you-have-missing-activities/ asking for a full account sync (if you’re not a Supporter)
For Garmin, you must click the “Sync History” button for your full history to sync in. BUT you may only request that history sync once, so you must be certain that the data from the old tracking service is fully deleted before you click the button.
Method B
This method results in a completely new CityStrides account. This means you’ll be put through some automation I have set up around deleting/creating accounts. It also means your User ID and “joined on” date will change, which will break some links you’ve shared in the past.

- After the data is moved over, you can delete your old tracking service account and this will also delete that data from CityStrides
- Log back into CityStrides via your new tracking service
