Hi! Me again. Phillipsburg, Ohio has a couple of issues. One problem is two nodes located behind a fence (around the water tower) on a dead end road. OSM clearly shows the fence if I attached the link correctly. Tech isn’t my strong suit.
A second problem in Phillipsburg is improperly named streets. I attached a photo of the error in CityStrides, along with the correct sequence names from another source. It’s been so long I can’t remember where I got the information. The correction Wouk be to change Cherry Dr to Cherry St, then shift Birch and Maple one street to the left leaving an unnamed alley where the Maple name is on the CityStrides map. The name “Cherry Dr” doesn’t exist.
If I had the skill set, I would fix these myself, but I promise I’m better at finding errors than correcting them.

I see your problem regarding Cherry Street et al. Google Street View also supports your description although both Open Street Maps and Google Maps have the wrong names.
It is a problem with small townships. Bigger communities will have a person in their planning department tasked with keeping sites like Google and OSM up to date but smaller communities do not. I’ve run many small towns in Alberta, Canada and often have to correct errors in OSM.
Making simple changes in OSM, such as changing street names, is not that difficult. No changes you make are initiated until you hit save so if you do get into a mess you can just exit the application and start again. Also, when you make changes and want to save them you are given the opportunity to write a brief summary of what you did and have it reviewed by a more experienced user.
In theory I could do it for you, but I am not an experienced user and have a policy of - I will only make changes if I have seen it with my own eyes.

I appreciate the help. I did try to mess with OSM but I’m on an iPhone and apparently you have to have some kind of 3rd party app to actually make changes.
Having had headquarters call me after a data entry error I made at work caused a major problem, I’m extra leery of touching things. Especially on a touch screen phone.
I went ahead and updated the streets in OpenStreetMap. They seemed like straight forward changes and used street view to verify the correct street names per the street signs. I find editing OSM on a smart phone is pretty difficult. It is best to use a computer.

I appreciate the tips. I don’t have reliable internet access on a computer, so the “don’t do it on a phone” is a good cautionary tale for me. Not changing things you haven’t seen is a solid plan, I can use that advice to collect more data for illustration when I see a problem. I like to fix problems, but I don’t like to screw things up for other users. My capacity for making huge mistakes is high, unfortunately, but I recognize my limitations and I’m willing to ask for help. I really appreciate the time you’ve taken to help!

Thank you! It looked like it should be an easy edit for anyone with more experience than I. It should help a couple of my friends who are lacking Maple St. I knew I needed it, I ran it twice by using the street signs, and the node remained one road to the right of what I ran. Went back a third time and found the alley that the map was calling Maple St. clearly not a road (see photo), but after I ran it, I claimed the Maple St node.
Thank you for the fix!

In that case, you can always add some good photoes to the request to help have eyes on the ground while helping.
So is the issue solved or do you still need someone to look into it?
Thanks for the tip. While I’m finding this fun, it’s also a huge source of frustration. I received the email with your reply and could not find the forum to answer. Finally had to google “CityStrides forum” to get here. That’s the level of “not a computer person” I am. It looks like the city has not updated since Jan 2 so changes aren’t showing yet. The roads should update when the upload happens. I’m not sure about the two nodes in the fenced area around the city water tower because I may have manually completed the town when those were the only nodes I needed, and now I can’t figure out how to see nodes at all. I do know the fence across the road shows up on OSM.
Thank you for all the help!

The updates in OSM are independent of the updates in Citystrides. Currently there are long waits, up to months, for the OSM updates to be “pulled” into CS. @JamesChevalier is working tirelessly to have the issue fixed.

I didn’t realize wharves could be made in CityStrides independent of OSM. The streets are still incorrect in CS. I do appreciate all of the help and effort that goes into this. I did finally figure out how to find the forum from the main page too. I definitely feel like I’m out of my league here. Some of you are rocking the editing of errors and I’m wandering around trying to find the forum.
