Hi! I’m new here and this is my second time reporting node issues so please bear with me. Seems every town I run has problems, and tech isn’t my strong suit. Anyway, Hill St in Glenwood Springs, Colorado is a private road. I ran the area twice to double check. There are a bunch of nodes down that gravel driveway.

I can’t give you a specific answer to this situation but the question of private vs public streets comes up frequently and there are several threads on CityStrides discussing it. Condominium developments are classic cases. There is no clear cut solution.
A couple of things though on your situation: Both Open Street Maps and Google Maps have the name Hill Street. Also OSM lists it as a alley, not a private road. The Dead End sign is obviously a city sign whereas the Private Property sign looks like an addition by a resident. From satellite view Hill Street is basically a back alley for houses on Echo Street and Spring Street.
This would imply that Hill Street is an official street that has not been developed yet and local resident(s), possibly worried about crime, want to deter access. That being said I could not see a standard green street sign for it which would usually be the definitive answer..
If you really want to know its official status the best thing to do would be to contact city hall.
Thank you for taking the time to answer. I ran this on vacation. There is no green street sign, nor is there a stop sign at the intersection. I did happen to see the mailman walking his route and he told me there is no Hill St, but there’s a gravel drive that leads back to a cottage and a house. So many sources, so many contradictory answers. Since we probably won’t be back in town for at least a couple of years, I won’t bother pursuing it.
Thank you!
