City streets

I’m wondering where the info for the streets in each city comes from? I have a big map of my city that I use to cross off streets as I go but I also use city strides as a cross reference. I ran a street today that I don’t see listed as completed or even progressed however it shows that I did it on the map part. I often notice too that it will show on the list that I completed a street even though it still shows I have at least one node to still get. It’s very confusing.

The visual map display is provided by Mapbox. Their data source is also OpenStreetMap, but they update things on their own schedule. So, the visual map can be different from the lists throughout the site.

My data source is OpenStreetMap. It doesn’t have a concept of “street”, they only store individual Way records & a street is comprised of one or more of those.
I have to build that concept of “street” within CityStrides, and I do that by joining up all the Way records in a city that have the same name. This can cause issues in cities where there are several different streets with the same name.
You can check on that street issue by clicking the “Go” button on a street. It’ll bring you to its page, and will display all its nodes in view on the map. You might find that there’s a whole other section across town.

A street is marked as complete if you’ve completed 90% of its nodes. I set it up this way to account for GPS jitter.
