Boundary for city has changed

Thank you for the change in Silver firs.

There are a few more changes in my area.
North Creek has been deleted in OSM:

It was replaced with Mill Creek east, Clearview, Bothell East, and Bothell West:

The boundaries around have also changed for Martha lake,Bothell, and Cathcart.

Boundaries automatically update monthly, so I’ll let that go as-is unless you feel like digging up the CityStrides links for each of those cities.

I was just looking at North Creek earlier today & noticed that I can almost just re-import all of admin level 8 and everything tagged 'boundary'='census' to rework coverage in Washington. I say almost because there are some slightly odd boundary issues - for example Relation: ‪Eastmont‬ (‪18393645‬) | OpenStreetMap and Relation: ‪Everett‬ (‪237659‬) | OpenStreetMap have some odd sections like this:

I don’t usually like to do that, but I’m on the fence since the affected area is so small…

I noticed the user who updated the borders for eastmont and the surrounding area didn’t update the borders of Everett. I’ve gone ahead and updated Everett in openstreetmap to the most current version. Hopefully there won’t be odd boundary issues now.

Ooh, maybe - I’ll have to look into the overpass turbo query result

Hi James,
Have you had a chance to look into re-importing the new census boundary cities in Washington?

Just wanted to plop another city link in here — I changed some of the OSM boundaries a few weeks ago and another user was working on it as well but wasn’t sure how long it would take to update. Helena, Montana Micah Drew is running Helena, Montana - CityStrides

There is a CDP missing from CityStrides and OSM. I added it in OSM here: Way: ‪Shaw Heights‬ (‪1364816596‬) | OpenStreetMap

When doing this I also made minor changes to the boundaries of Westminster Colorado, just to be a bit more accurate. I don’t think it actually affects any streets/nodes for citystrides’ purposes, but if you want to update it on your end anyway: Relation: ‪Westminster‬ (‪112777‬) | OpenStreetMap

Where I did make major changes to OSM that definitely affects roads and nodes is Arvada, Colorado (I’ve been working on this for a week and there’s still more to do, but most of it is done; it was pretty bad.) Relation: ‪Arvada‬ (‪112912‬) | OpenStreetMap

Added Shaw Heights to the Google Sheets tracker here: Missing/Broken Cities Tracker - Google Sheets

Arvada needs to have boundaries updated in Citystrides. Not only was it badly outdated in OSM, it also appeared to be offset about 100 meters east. Spent a lot of time fixing it and I think I’m done now:

If you also want to update Westminster where I made minor changes that don’t really affect citystrides: Westminster, Colorado - CityStrides

Cities automatically get their borders updated monthly … which at this point pretty much coincides with the syncing (unless a Supporter chooses to sync it earlier)

oh cool, that’s an awesome change thanks.

Hi James, curious if the monthly cadence for border updates is .. longer than a month? It’s been about 40 days since I’ve asked this and I’m still waiting for an update to occur. Thanks!

Yeah, none of the city update stuff is on a definite schedule. It’s all rough guesstimates on timing.
I sent Arvada and Westminster in for a manual border update.

The Overpass servers I connect to for all this aren’t super reliable, so I’m looking into alternatives. I’ve got some ideas, but that’s about it … I’m currently guessing a late summer or early fall delivery for that, if things work out how they look.

ok thank you!
