Thanks for running such a great project. Most of my running is in Leeds, UK and I would love to try and complete some cities but the whole of Leeds is beyond me at the moment! The districts (admin level 10) appear to be very patchy on OSM with some (seems to be the more peripheral ones) being there but others not.
I have added a suburb (Roundhay) to the list which previously was only list on OSM as a node. I have the followed the directions I found here on the forums and appear to have successfully added it as a boundary Relation: āŖRoundhay⬠(āŖ20288188ā¬) | OpenStreetMap
Iāve now updated this on the spreadsheet. Before I look at adding other suburbs of Leeds, can you confirm that what I have done is correct, and is it possible to import this into citystrides now as a nested city?
Click the top left āRunā button here ā overpass turbo
Thatāll show all the admin level 10 places. If you zoom into Ring Road Moortown, youāll see thereās a gap between the relation you built and the nearest northern relation - the gap covers Shadwell Lane.
I have no idea what to do with this information, but I canāt import Roundhay with that gap in there.
You might get a sense of what the other places actually are if you click each of them on the map - a popup will display its tags, which might provide clarifying info (Iām not from there, so those tags donāt help me understand anything).
The comments in this thread are automatically deleted after a month, and Iām not a reliable source of OSM info, so Iām going to move this to a new post in Support
Thanks for the information, I can see the problem now.
Essentially the Harewood and Alwoodley regions are incorrect.
The area around Shadwell lane that is currently a gap should be part of the Alwoodley boundary, there is also the area north of this around Alwoodley gates that is currently in the Harewood boundary but should also be within Alwoodley. See https://www.leeds.gov.uk/sites/default/files/2025-10/wards%202025_alwoodley.pdf
I have code that can handle updates to boundaries, no problem - worst case I have to force the boundary update then rerun the sync.
The issue of incorrect admin boundaries is solely an OpenStreetMap issue - well beyond my general use/expertise. If youāre looking for input on that, youāll either need to wait for someone more involved here or seek out help in the OSM Slack/Discord.
Ok thanks. The Roundhay suburb is the one Iād really like to have access to and is accurate. The āgapā is the bit that is preventing it Being imported? My OSM skills are a bit limited but If I add the gap to the Alwoodley area on OSM, where it should be will Roundhay then import and Alwoodley update?
Iāve now made the changes on OSM so that the gap is filled. This means the Alwoodley and Harewood cities will need updating. Does this now mean Roundhay can be added? Is it a manual process or do I just wait for an update cycle?
