@JamesChevalier maybe we could make a forum section for “OSM Help”. I am happy to help, but as @liz said sometimes changes are a bit hard to make. A dedicated forum would be maybe help keep discussions more focused.
This was more or less my intention when creating the City/Street/Node Issues subcategory of Support
Is the fact that it’s a subcategory an issue?
Is it an issue that it doesn’t explicitly contain “OSM Help” in its name?
It would definitely be a bit more visible if it was its own top-level category, since those get a small blurb displayed on the main page that describes its purpose.
naming is always hard … maybe “City/Street/Node Issues (OSM Help)”?
I guess I always consider “issues with CityStrides” separate from OSM, so I didn’t really think those were for OSM issues, per se. Like “Street Node issues” could be “James, your nodes are suddenly showing up as triangles” haha.
This is what I see in my forum sidebar:
Maybe it’s overkill, but an “OSM Requests” section would be my suggestion, maybe? Call to action!
This forum software was barking at me to create a new topic … seemed like a good idea
That’s a fair point about “issues with CityStrides” being separate from OSM.
One issue I see frequently is that a lot of (most?) people aren’t aware of that OpenStreetMap source. Everyone I’ve spoken with has gotten along fine with things after I explain it, though.
I could account for this by including my “data comes from OSM” snippet I’m constantly sharing within the category’s pinned post.
I definitely like this idea, I just want to be sure I change something to be better and not differently bad
When you’re on the main page of the forum, do you see a list of the categories (basically the same as the sidebar) like this?
That could include the new category, along with the blurb of text about how data comes from OSM, post in here to request fixes/change … something along those lines…
