Accidental ghost account?

I think I have an accidental second account. For Dracut, MA I notice every time I do a run there’s an account that stays three streets behind me that’s listed as private. This matches up with my account minus the three streets I’ve had to mark manually. What is that likely and how to get rid of it? It’s taking up a top ten spot that I’d rather not deprive somebody else of.

Jumping on to say I did the same thing yesterday by logging in with Garmin instead of Strava and now seem to have two accounts, can the wrong one be deleted please admin? (Its #90206)

@stevealbertphoto Can you share your profile link so that I can look into it?

@jamesharmston To revoke access from Garmin and delete that account’s data in CityStrides:

If you’d then like to connect your Garmin account to your existing CityStrides account (to avoid this issue in the future), you can do that in your Settings page.

You may also consider the pros/cons of switching to an exclusive Garmin connection. Garmin does not dictate how you can/cannot share your data with others, but it does limit the available data to 5 years back from the time of connecting.

Many thanks, I have sorted that out now! Do you advise removing Strava now then, am happy to follow your recommendation.

It’s really up to you and which service meets your needs. Every service comes with its tradeoffs, so … if having data older than 5 years is important to you, then Garmin is less appealing … if sharing your accomplishments with others is important to you, then Strava is less appealing … That’s probably the biggest deciding factor for those two services.

The Garmin limitation has a workaround - request a GDPR export of all your data, then upload the FIT files to a separate service to get them into CityStrides … until I make time for Manual Upload anyway
