There needs to be an "Historical App" for the places we stride past

A few months ago this San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles) resident started doing the Hollywood side of the map, and has passed all manner (manor?) of interesting and historical houses and buildings. Movie star homes (present and past), movie-locations, famous architects–all of noteworthy and notorious places.

Too often, after I’ve completed a walk, I’ll come home only to realize I passed a property or location famous for one reason or another.

I’ve been daydreaming about an app that would either alert you to noteworthy locations on your planned route, or alert you when you’re in front of some place with an interesting history…

For example, just this morning I was pulling photos off my phone to sort, store, delete, categorize…and remembered this photo. In an ‘expensive’ part of town (Los Feliz) it really stood out…

Spooky looking place… I got curious and did a little research… Turns out it has quite a (seasonally-appropriate for Oct) history! :grimacing:

An app like that has to be possible–although I don’t know how complicated it would end up being to actually accomplish…

Have you had any historical discoveries on your strides?

Thankfully my city and state seem to enjoy putting up plaques for every possible historical item. I have found lots of these plaques and had no idea the area was significant. I tend to take pics of them as I can.
