Would it be possible to add Rucking activity in Garmin as part of a coverage activity for streets?
Interesting… That’s not in the list of activity types in the Garmin documentation I have.
Can you share your profile link and the date of your most recent Rucking activity?
(They have another limitation that only lets me look at data from the past week, so if your activity is older than that then it won’t help here
)
What on earth is a “rucking activity” (unless you’re playing rugby or Australian football)?
WHAT IS RUCKING?
Rucking is just walking with weight on your back. It’s that simple.
Walking with a weighted rucksack (aka backpack) is an amazing way to build muscle, burn calories, and is 3x easier on your knees than running.
so my watch can’t start a rucking activity directly (some Garmin devices can).
The activity syncs over as a run or walk (depending on what i started) and then I have to go in and change it to Rucking.
So i can’t start a direct rucking activity. But for interest, my activity on 11/2 is a Rucking Activity in Garmin (now)
Blonde Dog, Brown Dog, and Human’s activity on November 2, 2025 - CityStrides
If you’re saving it into Garmin Connect as a run or walk, then that should immediately sync over into CityStrides as-is. Are you saving it to your device as a run/walk, changing it on your device, and then saving it to Garmin Connect?
Also, the link you shared is the activity in CityStrides - so it does seem like these are making it into the site. Is the issue that some activities aren’t arriving in CityStrides? Is there something else going on?
Note that some devices have activity profiles that others don’t have. For example, the Tactix might have rucking as a default during recording.
Edit: sorry, I just saw that @kevdel already said that.
For my watch, Garmin Instinct 2, I can only adjust an activity (run, walk) after completion to be a ruck. By the time I change it has already syncd over as a walk/run to CityStrides.. But as @supermitch correctly stated, some watches can start a rucking activity directly. My device does not support that.
So no issue for me but possible in the future (or future Garmin SW for me), somebody will ask!
Thank @JamesChevalier ! Appreciate the work you do there!
