Leaderboard Changes

Notice now the leaderboard (at least the top 50 or so) has all named runners. Some that were “private” seem now to be revealed. Not sure what if any change happened here but good to see.

That said, I was surprised I dropped 31st to 32nd when nobody was near “catching” me. I then see “Nameless Runner” has appeared in 5th having only joined the other day. Is that a “real” person? Hard to believe somebody has done 30,000 plus streets “randomly” ?

I have to admit I do have my “Tim Grose 2” profile as well (basically I always wear 2 watches so keep the 2nd one on a different Garmin/Strava account) so perhaps really ought not be in the leaderboard. Is that a possibility here with Nameless Runner ? Everything about that account is locked down so it seems.

How is it surprising that someone has done 30k streets, when others have done similar? That person did just join CS but maybe they were using one of the other apps until now? It doesn’t have to have been ‘random’.

It’s Friday, so I’m taking the optimistic view that it isn’t cobbled data

Somehow I seem to have done the most streets on the “other” site (well one of them with an S and and an F) but here I am barely halfway to 30,000 despite doing CS type runs for the last 5 years on most of my runs. I thought I had run “everywhere” until joined here but on “regular” runs you just don’t dart up dead ends etc etc

I have 6580 streets in CS, and 11512 in SF. The difference is due to SF counting streets twice in nested cities

As Jesse said, but wording slightly differently, it could be that they have been running for a long time and just joined CS so all of their history from their tracking app gets pulled in. When I joined about 3 years ago I had walks in MapMyFitness dating back to 2014.

I merged the Striders page and the Leaderboard, dropping the Striders page in the process.
The list has no trackable connection to the pins on the map. It’s the exact same list as the Striders page, with the addition of the place stats. That old Striders list didn’t use the “private Strider” setup, so privacy-wise there was no change here.

We’re all real people. Some of us do, indeed, run too much.

This is the exact reason why I’m not on board with the “first to complete” achievements e.g. First, second, third, etc. city completion badge - #5 by JamesChevalier
