My profile link : Lizzi - CityStrides
Hi, I’m relatively new to citystrides and have become quite addicted! I have completed my home town and have moved on to the next town however I’ve noticed that a few areas close by don’t have any streets in the cities. I have listed them below but I wasn’t able to put the full links in the post. Is there a way that these can be updated or is it more complicated than that?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for reporting these!
I’ve got them all going through a sync now … it’ll take a while for all the data to come through and get processed, etc.

I’ve found a couple more cities that match this description - they seem identical to cities with all their streets listed when I check OSM, but they have no CityStrides streets and as such progress cannot be made within them.
Brush, Colorado USA Brush, Colorado - CityStrides
Red Feather Lakes, Colorado USA Red Feather Lakes, Colorado - CityStrides
La Cienega, New Mexico USA La Cienega, New Mexico - CityStrides
Tesuque, New Mexico USA Tesuque, New Mexico - CityStrides
Additionally, I’ve found a few smaller cities (usually in rural areas) that show their cumulative street mileage as ? miles. While there is no functional issue with this and I assume it’s just a lack of data in OSM that contributes to it, I am still curious as to what this indicates.
Thanks in advance!
Sometimes - like in La Cienega & Tesuque - the cities were deleted in OSM … either on purpose or accidentally. I’ve been leaving them in CityStrides, in the off-chance that someone fixes/re-adds the city in OSM.
For these two, I’ll delete them because there aren’t any people who have completed a street there. For other cities, people have completed streets & I still have street/node info from when it existed, so there’s still progress to be made.
For Brush & Red Feather Lakes, I sent in a sync for those. It’s going to be slow because there’s a huge backlog of jobs right now, but I do see new streets added.
This usually means there are no streets, or the city hasn’t synced since I added this data. I calculate this on the CityStrides side of things, so if there are streets then it should be able to calculate the total distance.

James, Fort Myers FL has this issue too. Mostly the southern part. Very weird. Probably an OSM issue, but I haven’t explored yet
I checked OSM and it appears the streets are there with plenty of nodes. It appears that the areas I’m writing about don’t fall within the boundaries of any cities. I’m not smart enough on OSM to figure out how to add a area the government hasn’t defined as a city area yet…again, very weird as Fort Myers itself doens’t encompass much of what is declared as Fort Myers from a USPS perspective…
It appears all of the south Fort Myers area outside of the city limits are unincorporated…I wonder if there is an easy way to leverage Lee County’s line to bring the nodes into CS? Just trying to find a way for much of this area of FL can be run by Striders!!
