Any other geocachers out there?

Hi! very new strider here - like 2 days in. So far… I LOVE it!

  • I’ve been a geocacher for years and this activity tickles the same itch! a desired to explore new places and record progress. It feels like a cross between geocaching and a human game of pacman. The two I think could be very complementary : they can work side-by-side. I guess pokemon go would work well with this as well.

Are there any other geocachers out there? Any cross over tips and tricks? feels so much like one could be doing both at the same time

Wish I’d discovered it sooner - I’ve probably covered a huge proportion of my city - and many other cities around the world but didn’t record my route on my garmin. I’m not running out of geocaches wtihin reach of my home location so this gives me a new thing to geek out about

Welcome! I’ve always found geocaching interesting, but have never made any steps to become involved, though I know I would love it and it would scratch the same itch as CityStrides, like you said.

Hi Matt,

I’ve done some Geocaching and love the concept, and I’ve recently done a couple of Geocaching AdLabs too. I’ve also dabbled in Munzee, Bench Mark finding (a UK thing), and TrigPointing bagging (another UK thing) - there are lots of other ‘things’ you could spot/find too.

As for mixing those things with Running Every Street, I thought the same way as you, but I found that it interfered with my rate of city-completion progress unless there was a geocache in line with my route. In the long term, it might be more efficient to do everything at once, but I want to get my city completed first.

Your experience may differ, and it would good to know how you get on!

“Geocaching”, that’s a new word for me but I suppose I have been doing it in some way. I do try to cover as many areas of a map as possible - parking lots, public parks, beaches - especially in areas I already painted all the streets purple.
