Add nodes to non-city streets

I happen to live in an area that is classified as a “township” that does not fall into a CityStrides recognized City. The areas are heavily populated suburbs indistinguishable from the adjoining city, yet still do not qualify. My question is this: Could these streets get some nodes just like city streets and would therefore count toward the street count? The area in question is called “Miami Township” (and Washington Township, Sugarcreek Township, Clearcreek Township, etc) near Dayton Ohio just as an example area. I’m sure others are in the same predicament. Perhaps there are runnable country roads which could benefit from this as well.
