It is a known issue that you cannot toggle your lifemap if you are viewing the full lifemap (not a city or activity map)
While that is waiting to be resolved, a work-around for supporters is to use the time filter. By setting the start date to a future date, it removes all the traces temporarily if you need to do so to more clearly view a route, the map, etc.
Hopefully that helps some of you in the short term.
