OK, I’m thinking I must have revoked access while troubleshooting my phone’s CityStride login - it would keep giving me the attached error. My desktop login was fine. A friend asked if I quit City Strides and the next time I logged in I was a Nameless runner. It appears to be syncing with Garmin now, and is syncing runs that I know had been synced before. I realize there is a 5 year Garmin limitation, but am wondering how much it will be able to re-sync.
Is there any way to restore the previous data? I had just realized Savannah GA had added 13 new streets and was ready to get back to 100%. Hoping I don’t have to re-run all the streets.
I’m pretty sure this is due to some stale browser data. I haven’t been able to reproduce the issue, but this set of steps seems to resolve it:
Ensure you’re logged out of Garmin and CityStrides in Safari
Delete the app from your Home Screen if you have it added there
Open Settings → Apps → Safari → Advanced (at the bottom) → Website Data (at the top)
Search for “garmin”
Swipe to the left and click the Delete button that appears on the right
Search for “citystrides”
Swipe to the left and click the Delete button that appears on the right
Sign into Garmin’s website
Sign into CityStrides via Garmin, making sure you enable the ‘Historic’ toggle
You can re-add CityStrides to your Home Screen now
To get past the 5 year limitation from Garmin, I’d suggest the note in the “Here’s how you can work around this limitation:” area of Where are my older Garmin activities?
Today I was signed out of CityStrides pinned app on Android.
Was not able to sign in with Garmin, despite selecting ‘historical data’.
Login on desktop PC was fine.
Cleared cache on Garmin. Cleared cache on Citystrides. Cleared data on Citystrides. Nothing helped.
Uninstall and reinstall CityStrides app solved issue. (All data was still synced.)
