How do you mark it in OSM?
This wasn’t as much a “How do I do this in OSM” question as more of a philosophical approach to the different types of “Private” streets we encounter. The purpose was looking for feedback on how other “Striders” approach the variety of roads marked “Private”. Seems like the consensus is to run them and ask for forgiveness if someone questions you… 
BTW, great discussion everyone - love hearing about the different scenarios encountered around the world.
At some point, I decided that I would only run on streets where I feel comfortable. And accordingly, I avoid those streets (or sections of them) that appear not to be intended for public use.
Fortunately, that happens very rarely. We don’t have any gated communities here (I would definitely avoid those 
)
