The last three nodes on O’Callahan Ln, Red Hook, NY 12571 are beyond a gated wall and are not accessible. These are my last nodes to complete my village. Can they be deleted?

This data needs to be corrected in OpenStreetMap, so that future updates don’t affect CityStrides.
It looks like this is that street: [Way: ‪O'Callahan Lane‬ (‪24175727‬) | OpenStreetMap](https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/24175727)
I don’t know the correct way to do this edit. The Nodes shouldn’t be _deleted_ in OpenStreetMap, because they’re valid Nodes. The issue is that CityStrides needs to somehow “not see them” because they’re not relevant for our use.

The solution _might_ be to move those three Nodes into their own Segment, and then mark that Segment as `['access' = 'private']`
🤷‍♂️
This is outside of my OSM editing experience 😬

Maybe someone in our community knows what to do 🦸

I changed the last few nodes to access = private, so they should be gone from CS when this place is updated. It’s possible to give individual nodes tags, so no need to change any segments or anything fancy.

I hope so, this is how I’ve made all the edits for private road sections in my city 😅
Maybe given it’s modest size Red Hook is a good place to test?

Oh! I have two such roads in Peoria, Illinois. Both are city streets that suddenly end at a factory (Caterpillar and Komatsu) that has a fence and gate and the last node is inaccessible.

I was thinking I’d write the companies and ask if they’d let me on their property, but I bet I’ll get a no. I’m glad there’s another alternative!

Hi, reading your edit on osm i thought to go aand have a look, since i am editing osm for years now. thought somehow you would have made the individual points as private, but that i s not the trick.
I reversed that and made the piece of o’Callahan Ln private by splitting the road on the gate and making the line private via access = private. Go and check it out.

Does a part of the road that has been labeled as access=permissive by me in OSM because it’s behind a gate that doesn’t open for pedestrians, has the same consequences as access=private? For me it’s the same: I can’t finish the very last node of my hometown Meppel in The Netherlands. And if private and permissive both mean that this node doesn’t has to be reached to finish Meppel, how long does it take for City Strides to pick up the fact that the node can’t be reached? I’ve made the correction in OSM a few weeks ago.

No, permissive streets are imported to CS. From OSM wiki:
_An object, or way, is open for general public use, but access is not protected by law. An owner of the object, or way, may revoke access without following a legal process._
Only access values no, private and customers are excluded from CS

Adding to @hans1 … [About the Node, Street, and City Data](https://community.citystrides.com/t/about-the-node-street-and-city-data/19802) contains a link (somewhat buried, don’t worry about not seeing it on your own) to [CityStrides Street Query - Google Sheets](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dbj5giwBhCG-jWmokCnQOJhkIEE132FvXVyrvDL7tSU/edit?usp=sharing) which I do a _decent_ job of keeping up to date with changes along the way.

Hello, I’m not sure I completely understood how this private street problem was resolved, but I’m guessing it was just a matter of tagging the street access=private. Today, I revisited a local street that I thought I had completed, only to encounter a gate before the very end of the street. There are two nodes showing up at the end of that street (Caminito Stella) in CityStrides despite the fact that the street is already marked with access=private on OSM. I tried adding the tag access=private to the point on the street as well as the No Exit feature that I think correspond to the nodes in CS. I’ll check again tomorrow or the next few days on CS to see if this corrects things, but I’m not really sure yet. Here is the street in question on OSM:

and here is what I’m seeing in CS:

Did I update this in OSM correctly?

Thanks.

It appears San Diego hasn’t been synced in almost a year in CS. From what I see in OSM, your update should remove those nodes in CS once it syncs again.

Could someone help me by updating OSM please?

I managed to alter the length of this road to where it reaches a CCTV covered, domestic, gate. I seem to have left two nodes on the private house footpath which are inaccessible and obsolete now. Sorry, I honestly have tried to do it! 🥺

Look OK now. Suspect just now need a synch with CityStrides and there have been problems doing that of late.

Thank you. I checked today and it looks like the sync for San Diego on Sep 3 took care of all of my recent OSM updates. First time I’ve tried this and I’m happy to see things working as expected!
