Me and @rinugent are both on Motorola g56 5G.
I am on android version 16; moto g56 5G BUILD/W1VOS36.88-71-6-2-1-4 ( so same as Henrik)
Using chrome 154.0.8037.126
Thanks for getting it sorted James. Really appreciate your help.
It’s, unfortunately, not sorted … The issue seems to be caused by a recent Mapbox update, and I can’t stay on an old version - so I’ll need to do more work to get the underlying issue resolved.
I’m not in a great position to do this, though, because I don’t have any actual evidence of a problem - Henrik was able to share logs privately (there is some user-specific info in there that I do not want shared), but it didn’t include any actual error messaging.
There is a new Mapbox release candidate of an upcoming version, which includes a number of fixes … still, I don’t have any visibility into what is going wrong, so I have no idea if these fixes are relevant … I’m going send out an update of CityStrides in a bit that uses this prerelease to see if your devices conk out again. Maybe we’ll get lucky!
Alright, that test release is out now … Let me know how things work (or don’t) after refreshing the page.
The LifeMap is empty again ![]()
I guess i have to buy a new phone now. Just kidding, but again it’s a not a huge problem for me, more like a minor inconvenience. As long as it works on PC I’m happy.
Bummer!
While the LifeMap is non-functional, do these still operate as expected?
- top right plus/minus buttons that control zoom
- top right crosshairs button that controls whether you’re shown on the map as a blue dot
- bottom left scale display that dynamically changes as you zoom in and out
Similarly, does this page operate as expected?
Everything works as intended, except “Toggle LifeMap” and “Toggle CityMap”. Even “LifeMap ReRun” works, showing all the dates, but doesn’t draw the lines.
The mapbox link works as expected.
Hmm… I’ve updated this page to center over San Francisco & display an elevation layer (pink squiggly lines) over the map. As you zoom out, pieces of it will start to disappear until it isn’t shown at all.
Are you able to zoom in and out and see the various levels of detail appear/disappear?
OK, so it seems tied to CityStrides-specific data ![]()
I’m really sorry to keep asking you to test stuff, but this is my only view into the issue. If you open a new browser tab on my LifeMap, does that also break? Similarly, does Ivan’s LifeMap or Pete’s LifeMap break?
(I’m trying to get a sense of whether the amount of data or being a Supporter are factors)
All other LifeMaps i have been trying to view on my phone are empty for me.
I really appreciate your patience & help with this. I have one more thing I’d like to know based on you viewing my LifeMap. When you view that, do these 4 notifications pop up?
- addLifeMap
- adding LifeMap
- setting sourceArgs
- entered addLifeMapLayer
I don’t care about the order they appear, just whether all/none/some appear.
Are those boxes incomplete rendering?
If you visit this page and zoom/pan to the same place, does it display white boxes there too?
If you’re familiar with connecting your phone to your computer to collect developer console output, I’d be interested in that output when viewing my LifeMap … if not, no worries - it’s a bit of a complicated mess.
There’s a link further up in the thread.
