Anyone else experiencing issues with Android?
My LifeMap works fine on my PC, but when i open it on my phone it’s empty. Have tried Chrome and Firefox, logged in and out and installing/uninstalling the “app”.
It worked fine 2 days ago on my phone, now it’s just gone.
Tried looking at other peoples maps, they are also empty.
When i open LifeMap the “Toggle LifeMap” button is on. If i turn it off and try to turn it on again, it just goes grey. The “Toggle CityMap” button doesn’t work either. The “Node Hunter” button works and only shows my missing nodes.
That sounds like javascript is failing at some point & everything after that point stops working.
I have no idea how to (or if it’s possible) access a developer console on an Android device to see javascript logs/errors. I’ve got error tracking, though - can you remove the ‘app’ from your Home Screen & refresh the page in a browser & try to reproduce the issue? (let’s fix this in a browser before looking at the PWA)
Let me know when you’ve done that & I can check to see what was reported…
nothing reported
While writing this & looking into things, I had a few moments where the maps weren’t loading. There was only error output in the browser console if I tried refreshing the page (the initial blank map didn’t produce an error).
I’m not sure how to proceed without being able to see the browser console output of javascript errors … It seems like doing that in Android requires connecting it to a computer and going through all sorts of shit …
Does this page work in a private/incognito browser window?
It works in Android Chrome incognito mode. Thanks for looking in to it, no need to spend more of your time on it. Now at least i can see the map. I’ll probably reset the phone at some point and see if that helps.
While my instinct is to suggest you try the exact steps in Resolving common login issues again, I’m also wondering if there are any browser plugins/extensions that could be causing issues in weird ways. If there are any present, you could try disabling them all then re-enabling them one by one until you get the same issues appearing.
Not expecting you to do anything about it, just an update
The incognito mode only worked the one time i tried it.
I have tried three different browsers, i have signed in with both Strava and Garmin, i have booted in to safe mode and nothing works, so i can only conclude the issue must be with my phone. It’s a Motorola 56G with Android 16 and i suspect it’s probably the Motorola part of the software that does something.
If you’re feeling extra adventurous, you could try to connect things up to view the console - https://stackoverflow.com/a/37256485 - but if you collect any info that way, I’d prefer you send it to me in a private message here instead of publicly.
My son and I both have the same Android phone and have been unable to see our Life Map for the last few days (since Thursday night) The phone is 6 months old and has plenty of memory and storage space.
My son has a subscription and can see the nodes he has done / not done but not the purple lines. For me the base map comes up but no purple lines.
We can not see our friends Life Maps either. However other friends can see my life map. Also my Life Map works fine on my PC.
I have tried clearing my browser (chrome) cache, using a different (Oprah) browser and using incognito.
I have logged off and on and restarted my phone.
Any advice would be gratefully received. I am navigating from screenshots from my PC for now
Do other things work, like the buttons on the map? For your son - Node Hunter, Route Builder, etc
I’m wondering if it’s similar to No LifeMap on Android
Son here, yeah all the other functions seem to be working properly. There’s what I believe is an additional issue where roads seem to become paths when zoomed in, se attached.
Also the numbers on roads are missing, also se attached (not a big issue at all though)
I just released a change that reverts the Mapbox software version to their previous release.
Can you refresh the page in your browser and check to see if that solves the issue?
Oh damm could have told you were the road was The revert seemed to fix the map, looks normal again. The life map is also working again. The numbers on roads are still missing but that isn’t an issue for me, just something I noticed ( the names of roads still show up properly). Thanks for the help!
Not sure if it’s related. Took it for a testrun, loaded a route, activated LifeMap and it worked fine. After about 1 km, it displayed a warning about WebGL2. I forced the app to stop, opened it and loaded the route again. It worked for the remaining 11 km. Did notice one thing though. The LifeMap button stays greyed out, until i touch screen, before going back to normal purple color.
Can you provide me with some more info @hjkiddk@williamtengstrandnug@rinugent ? It sounds like the recent release of Mapbox caused some issues, and I want to report it to them… I’ll need to provide as much detail as possible, though.
