A requirement for my new Fenix to use ECG functionality is to enable MFA on my Garmin account. They warn that once this is turned on, it can never be disabled.
Will my activities still sync to CS and will I still be able to log into CS with my Garmin account? I’d be happy to test it but since it can’t be turned off I’d have no way of reverting back if it breaks CS.
Nothing about multi-factor authentication in Garmin (or any service) should affect CityStrides in any way.
To log into CityStrides, you must already be logged into Garmin (or any service). If you’re not, then Garmin (or any service) handles that on their end … then prompts with the access request … then sends you back to CityStrides.
For CityStrides to access your activities, that account connection is made during the first login. There are tokens/secrets which allow the background connectivity that does the work of syncing activities etc.
Whether or not there’s a MFA step in the login to Garmin (or any service) isn’t relevant/known to CityStrides.
