Duplicate Cities

The city Kluczbork is duplicated. Once as the city (gmina Kluczbork) and twice as region (rejon kluczborski). The problem is that the streets are also duplicated. That means one street exists three times. On my last run I completed 77 streets but I run only about 25 streets. Is there any way to exclude the city from the region?
Also the region kluczborski exists under 2 different names (wojewodztwo opolskie/slaskie). But it is the same region.

OK, it looks to me like these two are complete duplicates:

Can you clarify which of these two is wrong and should be deleted?

Then it looks like gmina Kluczbork, województwo opolskie - CityStrides should be marked as being nested within Rejon kluczborski. That will resolve the duplicate streets issue, but still allow you to complete just that city.

Rejon kluczborski, województwo śląskie - CityStrides (województwo śląskie, Polska) is wrong and should be deleted.

When I look at the list of cities I have in progress I’ve spotted that there are a handful of US cities that appear twice.

South Kensington, Maryland is an example. There seem to be 2 very similar cities defined in CityStrides. Both called South Kensington, Maryland and both with the same number of streets (112) but with slightly different total lengths 70.94 / 70.97 km and with different number of striders 117/131

Oh, yeah, Maryland in particular has a fair number of duplicates. I think I didn’t have duplicate protection when I re-imported it. I just haven’t cleaned it up, yet.

Saw this has happened before so I thought I’d add to this thread: the city of Coimbra is in CityStrides twice, both cities link to the same way relation from OSM.

  1. Coimbra, Coimbra - CityStrides shows as “Coimbra”
  2. CityStrides shows as “Sé Nova, Santa Cruz, Almedina e São Bartolomeu Coimbra” but in OSM the relation is “Coimbra (Sé Nova, Santa Cruz, Almedina e São Bartolomeu)”

I think either one could be deleted, my preference would be the second one because it’s more succinct.

I have noticed among the cities I completed a case of one which is added twice, once as the entire municipality and second time within the boundaries of main population core.

Sant Joan les Fonts, Catalunya - CityStrides - I’d recommend removing this one as the smaller one.

Maybe it could a good idea to automatically review if there are more cases of repeating cities within the same jurisdictions as a possible red flag for removal of such duplicates?
