I check my progress every day. I’m used to small changes in the number of completed streets in both directions, and account it to map updates, etc. But yesterday I got +103 streets (not that I’m complaining :-D).
Bottom line: it would be nice to be able to see a simple textual “changelog”, something like this:
Date1:
- new activity (maybe link) synced, completed these streets:
- Cityname1 : street1, street2,
- Cityname2: …
- Cityname3 data updated, newply completed streets: street3, street4, “uncompleted” streets: street5, street6
Date2: …
I would assume, that making such a log would not require too much additional computation compared to actually updating the user data. Regarding storage: I think that it would be enough if this has a 30-day rolling window, or maybe even just 7 for normal users, and 30 for subscribers.
The benefits I see:
- If something fishy happens in a city, obsessed users like me would probably pick up on it, and report it, check the OSM changes, etc.
- As a user, I’d be happy to be able to see (or even notified) if a formerly completed street becomes progressed, because of a map update (maybe the street at the border of the city close to me got longer officially, or I got awarded a 2 node street preciously by checking the two endpoints, but now there is a 3rd node in the middle, etc.) In these scenarios I would put those nodes on my todo list (especially for previously 100% cities)
I hope I could phrase my idea clearly.
P.S.: now that I’m thinking maybe the reason for my +103 streets is the fact that once I activated hardcore mode, but it got deactivated when I became unsubscribed, and I “get back” streets as the map is updated? The idea is still valid regardless for small changes.
